Medical Necessity Program

Your business deserves both professional
service and personal customer care.

Medical Necessity Program

As a member of Magic Valley Electric COOP, you know that you can rely on us to provide reliable power on a consistent basis. This is important for all, but extremely important for members who use life-sustaining medical equipment. If this applies to you or someone who resides in your home, you may wish to fill out a Medical Necessity Program application.

What is the Medical Necessity Program?

Magic Valley Electric COOP keeps an up-to-date database of service locations where residents require life-sustaining medical equipment. This is a critical service for members because we will let you know when there will be a planned outage or service interruption so that you can properly prepare.

Can you guarantee electrical service?

No, we cannot guarantee priority electric service restoration for members who are part of the Medical Necessity Program. Though you will receive prior notification, you will also not be exempt from planned outages. Finally, the Medical Necessity Program will not prevent termination of service due to nonpayment.

Who qualifies for the Medical Necessity Program?

To be eligible for this program, you or someone who lives in your house must be diagnosed by a qualified physician with
one of the following types of medical conditions:

Chronic Medical Conditions

This applies if a member has been diagnosed with a condition that requires life-sustaining medical equipment for a major life function. To remain eligible, members must fill out an application on an annual basis.

Lifelong Chronic Medical Conditions

This applies if a member has been diagnosed with a condition that requires life-sustaining medical equipment for a major life function. To remain eligible, members must fill out an application on an annual basis.

Critical Care Conditions

This applies if a member has been diagnosed with a condition that requires medical equipment to sustain life. To remain eligible, members must fill out an application every two years.

Lifelong Critical Care Conditions

We use the same criteria that applies to Critical Care Conditions, but this category does not require renewal every two years.
