MVEC Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Programs
MVEC offers several energy efficiency rebate programs that will help you make your home more efficient and reduce energy costs. At the same time, you’ll help to protect the environment through energy conservation.

Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Rebate Program
MVEC offers consumers financial incentives for the replacement of central heat pump systems, central conventional cooling systems, or dual fuel systems for existing single family dwellings. We will also give recommendations on how to weatherize your home in order to help you reduce energy consumption.

Elegibility requirements:
- Residential consumers must be served by Magic Valley Electric Cooperative, Inc.
- Only central, ducted systems are eligible (no window or through the wall units). Outdoor condensing units, indoor evaporating coil, and air handler must be new and matched as shown in the current A.R.I. directory.
- A licensed air-conditioning contractor is responsible for determining the unit’s proper size for best results.
- New homes and master metered accounts are NOT eligible for rebates.
Program Guidelines and Procedures:
- Air-conditioning contractor must have a valid Texas air-conditioning contractor license.
- MVEC Member will initiate rebate forms.
- MVEC reserves the right to inspect all installations.
- The rebate will be disbursed to the member after MVEC receives and reviews all completed rebate forms. Please allow 6 weeks after receipt of all documentation to receive rebate.
- The air-condition capacity sizing ratio must exceed 500 square feet per ton. If the ratio does not meet the minimum requirement, a load calculation (manual “J” or computer) must accompany the rebate request.
- Unit must be installed January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012.
- Rebate request must be submitted to MVEC within 30 days of the installation of the unit.
- A copy of the purchase receipt or invoice must be mailed to MVEC, Attn: Rebate Program, P.O. Box 267, Mercedes, TX 78570, emailed (energystar@magicvalley.coop) or faxed to (956-825-7185). Please include home address and MVEC account number on receipt or invoice.
- MVEC Member must provide proof of purchase. Air-conditing systems installed and purchased by City, County, State, or federal grant programs do not qualify for rebates.
- Rebates are limited and available on a first come, first serve basis until funds earmarked for the Program are depleted or the program is terminated. To qualify for a rebate the home must be served by MVEC. The terms and conditions of the Program are subject to change without notice. Rebate forms must be received within thirty (30) days of installation to qualify for rebate.

Marathon Water Heater Program
The MVEC Marathon Water Heater Program offers a $150 financial incentive to MVEC Members for the purchase and installation of 40 gallon and above Marathon brand water heaters in new and existing homes served by MVEC from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011.

Where can I buy a Marathon Water Heater?
At any of our MVEC offices. MVEC currently stocks 50 gallon Marathon Water Heaters, for more information please call 956-903-3069.
Program Guidelines and Procedures:
- Rebate is available to MVEC Members for the purchase and installation of a 40 gallon and above Marathon brand water heater in a new or existing home served by MVEC.
- All water heaters must be new and installed per the manufacturer’s installation procedures.
- State and local codes must be followed.
- Water heater heat traps must be installed.
- To receive rebate water heater must be purchased from MVEC.
- MVEC will require an onsite inspection of the water heater installation to verify that all program requirements are met.
- MVEC reserves the right to deny the rebate if MVEC cannot verify the information provided on the application form.
- Applications must be received within 30 days of purchase of the water heater. Please allow 6 weeks after receipt of all documentation to receive rebate.
- Rebates are limited and available on a first come, first serve basis until funds earmarked for the Program are depleted or the program is terminated. To qualify for a rebate the home must be served by MVEC. The terms and conditions of the Program are subject to change without notice.
MVEC Energy Efficiency Rebate Request Form
Heat Pump Water Heater Program
The MVEC Heat Pump Water Heater Program offers a $250 financial incentive to MVEC Members for the purchase and installation of an ENERGY STAR Qualified electric heat pump water heater in new and existing homes served by MVEC from January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012.

Program Guidelines and Procedures:
- Rebate is available to MVEC Members for the purchase and installation of an ENERGY STAR Qualified electric heat pump water heater in a new or existing home served by MVEC.
- All heat pump water heaters must be new and installed per the manufacturer’s installation procedures.
- Heat pump water heater shall be UL listed and have an Energy Factor of 2.0 or greater.
- State and local codes must be followed.
- To receive rebate please attach an itemized and dated invoice from the retailer with the completed rebate form.
- MVEC will require an onsite inspection of the heat pump water heater installation to verify that all program requirements are met.
- MVEC reserves the right to deny the rebate if MVEC cannot verify the information provided on the application form.
- Applications must be received within 30 days of purchase of the heat pump water heater. Please allow 6 weeks after receipt of all documentation to receive rebate.
