Residential Line Extension Policy
Single Phase Overhead Service
The Cooperative will construct a new extension of its distribution system to serve a single family residence under the following provisions:
- ApplicationTo qualify as an extension to a single family residence the location where Customer is requesting service shall:
- be a permanent installation used predominantly for residential purposes;
- be a single family dwelling unit not combined with or attached to other residential units;
- if located within a subdivision the developer must have complied with the subdivision line extension policy of the Cooperative and paid all aid to construction required therein.
- Point of DeliveryThe Cooperative extends its electric facilities only to the point of delivery. Customer shall install and be solely responsible for wiring of the installation and all service entrance wiring through the weatherhead and the meter base to customer’s main disconnect or service center.
- Facilities ChargeThere will be no charge to the Customer for the first $1,000 of actual cost incurred in making the extension and such amount shall be the Cooperative’s obligation. The Customer shall be required to pay in advance as aid to construction the estimate cost of al construction in excess of such amount.
The Cooperative shall estimate actual cost in excess of the Cooperative’s obligation and customer shall pay such estimate prior to commencement of construction. After completion of construction, the Cooperative shall compare actual cost incurred with the estimate paid by Customer. If the actual cost incurred less the Cooperative’s obligation is less than the amount estimated then the Cooperative shall adjust Customer’s account or billing.
Temporary Service
In any circumstance where the need for electric service may be for a period of less than one year, the Cooperative shall charge and Customer shall pay 100 percent of the actual cost of construction plus the cost of removal less salvage value.
Area Lighting
- The Cooperative will normally install, at no cost to the Member, area lighting on existing poles owned by the Cooperative.
- The Cooperative will construct an extension of its distribution system to Customer’s point of delivery for area of security lighting installations. The Customer shall be required to pay prior to the commencement of construction as a nonrefundable aid to construction the estimated cost of all construction. No part of the cost of the line extension shall be borne by the Cooperative.
Relocation of Facilities
The Cooperative will relocate its facilities on Customer’s premises at Customer’s request provided Customer has (1) provided a satisfactory easement for the new facilities; (2) paid in advance any estimate of all costs for the removal of the old facilities, less salvage value, and all cost for the construction of new facilities. If the Cooperative determines it is necessary to move its facilities because customer fails or refuses to allow the Cooperative access to Cooperative’s facilities at any time then Customer may be billed actual cost of relocation. If Customer determines an upgrade of facilities is reasonably necessary, the Customer may be required to pay an amount not to exceed the actual cost of all construction.
Ownership of Distribution Facilities
The Cooperative shall retain the ownership of all material and facilities installed by the Cooperative for the distribution of electric energy whether or not any amounts may have been paid as a contribution in aid of construction by the Customer or the subdivision developer. All lines and facilities constructed or installed by the Cooperative are the property of the Cooperative.
