Builder Participation Information and Incentives
Builder Application Process
All home builders who participate in the MVEC ENERGY STAR for New Homes Program must complete the following items to be eligible for incentives:
1. Home Builder must be a registered ENERGY STAR Partner.
If not, builder must complete and submit an Online ENERGY STAR Partnership Agreement.
2. Home Builder must complete and submit an MVEC ENERGY STAR Builder Participation Agreement.
New Home Eligibility Requirements
1. Home must be a new single-family residence served by Magic Valley Electric Cooperative, Inc.
2. Builder must select an accredited HERS Rater and work with the Rater to identify energy efficiency measures to meet or exceed ENERGY STAR specifications.
3. Builder must construct home in accordance with measures selected. Builder may choose National Performance Path (HERS Index) or ENERGY STAR Qualified Homes Builder Option Package for Single-Family Homes in South Texas (STX BOP).
4. All ENERGY STAR qualified homes must be inspected and tested by a third-party accredited Home Energy Rating Company* to verify the homes’ predicted performance. Builder will determine the best testing methodology to certify the home. The home must achieve a minimum HERS Index of 85 to qualify as an ENERGY STAR Home.
5. Incentives will be paid to registered home builders that complete and submit certification of the construction of new ENERGY STAR Qualified Homes in the MVEC service territory from January 1, 2010 through December 1, 2010.
*Home Energy Raters must be registered with MVEC. HERS Raters are required to complete and submit an MVEC Energy Rater Participation Agreement.
ENERGY STAR for New Homes Incentives
The 2010 MVEC ENERGY STAR Home Program will offer incentives to home builders that complete and submit certification of the construction of new ENERGY STAR qualified homes between January 1, 2010 and December 1, 2010 in the MVEC service territory.
Financial Incentives – Paid to Builder
$300 per ENERGY STAR Home: H.E.R.S. index of 85 – 80
$500 per ENERGY STAR Home: H.E.R.S. index of 79 or lower
$200 per ENERGY STAR Home: Town Homes
$150 Additional Premium for Advanced Lighting Package, or 80% CFL or LED Lighting
Rebates are limited and available on a first come, first serve basis until funds earmarked for the Program are depleted or the program is terminated. To qualify for a rebate the new home must be ENERGY STAR Certified between January 1, 2010 and December 1, 2010. The home builder is required to adhere to the guidelines of the Program, and the new home must be served by MVEC. The terms and conditions of the Program are subject to change without notice.
ENERGY STAR for New Homes Rebate Application
ENERGY STAR Home Raters are required to submit an MVEC ENERGY STAR for New Homes Rebate Application upon completion of the ENERGY STAR home.
MVEC will pay a $30 HERS Rater incentive for each approved MVEC ENERGY STAR New Home Rebate Application submitted by HERS Rater.
