MVEC

ENERGY STAR for New Homes Program

Introduction

The 2010 MVEC ENERGY STAR for New Homes Program will offer incentives to home builders that complete and submit certification of the construction of new ENERGY STAR qualified homes in the MVEC service territory from January 1, 2010 through December 1, 2010.

To earn the ENERGY STAR, a home must meet strict guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These homes are at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC), and include additional energy-saving features that typically make them 20-30% more efficient than standard homes. ENERGY STAR Homes must meet the requirements established in the ENERGY STAR Qualified Homes National Performance Path or the Energy Star Builder Option Package for single-family homes in South Texas. All ENERGY STAR qualified homes must be inspected and tested by a third-party accredited Home Energy Rating Company.

Our ENERGY STAR New Homes program promotes construction of energy-efficient homes that provide homebuyers with the most energy efficient home for their money. ENERGY STAR Qualified homes offer energy efficient features that contribute to improved home quality and homeowner comfort.
